# Shipping accessible components

Accessibility is a default, not a phase at the end of a project.

Accessible defaults cost little upfront and save a great deal later.

## Semantics first

Use the element that describes the content, then style it. Buttons act, links navigate.

Every icon-only control gets a label; every image gets alt text.

### Takeaways

- Choose semantic elements
- Label icon-only controls
- Never remove focus styles

> The accessible path should be the easy path.
